Kindergarten/First Grade Team Teaching Loop

Our kindergarten class works as one team. Mrs. Gariboldi is the lead math/science teacher and Mrs. Parker is the lead literacy teacher. We both have a passion for working with young children and creating an environment that encourages cooperation. It is our goal to have children become life long learners!

December 20

What a busy, yet super-fun day! We had a great time making snowflake ornaments with our buddies! We exchanged cards and spent some quality time with them. It was awesome! We listened to the story of the Grinch and we watched the traditional Grinch cartoon. We made grinch dust and a tree ornament. We went to the sing-a-long in the gym, and celebrated our student teacher's graduation! Here are some pictures from the day...........

December 16

Today we worked on our addition facts of N+1. That means the students can add one to any number. We played a game called, "One More". Many students asked to take home a copy of this game to play with their families. I am sending a copy home today! It might be a fun game to play over break!

December 12

We read a great book today about Snowflake Bently. We learned about his passion for snow. He was an amazing scientist that was extremely persistent ! After the story we made our own beaded snowflake ornament. Each ornament should have 6 points and six beads on every point.

4 Winds

We had a great 4winds lesson today on cones. We watched a puppet show, went on a scavenger hunt and sorted cones. We also played a matching game with branches. Thanks to our wonderful 4winds teachers!

ECO

We had another great day in the forest! Yesterday we received a letter from Flora Fauna sharing her recipe for a forest. It seems she was confused...she included the wrong ingredients. However the kindergarten scientists discovered many ingredients that are in a forest. Today we wrote back to Flora about our discoveries!

This afternoon a group of students built a straw structure that reached from one end of our room to the other. Did you know our room is 37 straws wide?
