Kindergarten/First Grade Team Teaching Loop

Our kindergarten class works as one team. Mrs. Gariboldi is the lead math/science teacher and Mrs. Parker is the lead literacy teacher. We both have a passion for working with young children and creating an environment that encourages cooperation. It is our goal to have children become life long learners!

We had a lot of fun celebrating our 100 days of school today! It is day 101, but we couldn't resist celebrating 100 again, but this time we included the first grade! The k-1 students rotated between 3 different classrooms today. The special activities were: playing a game of race to 100, predicting how many licks it takes to reach the center of a tootsie pop while keeping track of each lick on a hundreds chart, body movement and building with 100 blocks. We had enough snack left over from yesterday to share again! Thank you

We also made a fabulous bulletin board of the 100 reasons why we love our school and kindergarten.

February 5

Today was awesome! It was our 100th day of school! Thank you so much for all of the wonderful donations that came in for our special "build 100" snack. The kids made ten groups, each group had ten snack items in it. Please see the pictures below!

We also had a fabulous time in the snow covered forest during ECO. The kids worked in the outdoor kitchen, sat around the fire listening to stories and eating snack as well as used shovels to move some snow! Thank you parents for volunteering your time to help make our ECO experiences so wonderful!

Kindergarten Events

We have had a wonderful week! A few quick notes: We will not have ECO until February 5th. We will have a Valentines party and exchange valentines. We will create holders in class. We would like the children to bring 25 valentines that are signed, but not addressed to specific students.

Other exciting events are that we are starting to study mammals. Ask your child to share characteristics of a mammal. We also have begun our writing to inform unit. We are learning to write How-to books.

Students sharing their first How To writing

Today we met with buddies. We brainstormed ideas that we could write about. We then took one idea and broke it down into steps. What fun!
