Kindergarten/First Grade Team Teaching Loop

Our kindergarten class works as one team. Mrs. Gariboldi is the lead math/science teacher and Mrs. Parker is the lead literacy teacher. We both have a passion for working with young children and creating an environment that encourages cooperation. It is our goal to have children become life long learners!

October 30 2013

We had a great afternoon full of outdoor fun! During our ECO session we heard a wonderful story about a tiger and a mouse, you should ask your child about it! After our story and snack the kids went to their quiet spots in the forest to start building mouse houses. These are houses constructed from items in nature. Some students used sticks, moss, leaves, pine cones, pine needles and ferns. They started to think about what would help the mouse stay warm and cozy as the winter approaches. Before we finished we added a bit of bird seed to each house. I wonder if the seeds will still be there the next time we go out? Today was the start of a great project! The students also spent some time writing in their journals. They drew pictures of their mouse houses and will continue to add details to these pictures as they change their structures or as they notice changes that occur naturally!

Picture perfect!
